Pilates is a bodymind method created by Joseph Pilates (1883-1967). The method's purpose is to improve posture and muscle balance by activating and strengthening the deep muscle layers of the body. Pilates creates strong and lean body. It also opens up breathing and improves concentration and body awareness.
PILATES FOR MUSICIANS
Pilates for Musicians is developed especially to the challenges of musicians' work. The method concentrates to improve playing position, to enhance breathing and to stabilize the pelvis, spine, shoulder girdle and the head. Pilates for Musicians has many exercises to develop strongly supported and at same time relaxed movement of the arms. The method also helps in performance anxiety by relieving tension and stress from the body.
PLAYING FROM THE CORE METHOD
Playing from the Core is a method especially for the wind players. The method has three sectors: intelligent and efficient way of using the body, awareness based mental training and balanced practicing. Playing from the Core creates a voice production that is founded in the deep muscle layers of the body. The method also creates free and natural way of breathing and a balanced and dynamic playing posture. Playing from the Core enhances also the 'flow' in playing.
